Laser/light services many purposes, some of them being medical while others being for cosmetic reasons. Many people perceive excessive body hair to be unappealing, embarrassing, or annoying, and this is where laser excels in doing its job. Research indicates that laser has a 50-80% potency throughout the course of six to eight treatments in contrast to traditional hair-removal treatments which are much less effective.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a gradual process of permanent hair reduction. The laser is passed over the hair area and the laser light is pulsed over the hair shaft to heat and destroy it.
What to Expect From Laser Hair Removal
A “Good” response from the laser hair removal treatment is a reduction in the hair by 80-100%. This will likely require 5-8 treatments on the body and 7-10 treatments on the face. Treatments are done every 4+ weeks for optimal results. It is important to understand that this is an estimate based on our experience and the supporting medical literature. Results are very individual.
What We Guarantee
When we do work on human body, it is completely impossible to accurately predict your exact response. Genetics, hormones, medications…etc. can cause each of us to respond differently to the treatments.
Side Effects and Risks
Some normal side effects may occur after laser hair removal treatments, including itching, pink skin, redness, and swelling around the treatment area or swelling of the follicles (follicular edema). These side effects rarely last more than two or three days. The two most common serious side effects are acne and skin discoloration. Some level of pain should also be expected during treatments. Icing the area after the treatment helps relieve the side effects faster. Unwanted side effects such as hypo- or hyper-pigmentation or, in extreme cases, burning of the skin call for an adjustment in laser selection or settings.
